Unless they are not getting information and just bombing and killing anyway. If they were getting information then how come very few hostages have been freed?

If the times of Israel can be believed, the strikes supposedly targeting Dief wouldn't have gone ahead if he was surrounded by Israeli hostages. So it could be the IDF and Israeli intelligence know more about where other hostages are but can't come up with a plan that would free them without mass casualties amongst the hostages. The others leaders of Hamas that are still alive won't be making the same mistake as Dief made. Although we still don't even know if he was actually killed or not.

Biden gone now. Will be interesting to see who the new Democratic candidate will be, probably Harris. I'd say they will continue to supply weapons to Israel and do as little as possible to push for a ceasefire. Bibi must be delighted in how he played Biden.

Joe boasted in a recent interview that no one has done more for Palestinians than he has. Maybe he was mixing up Israelis and Palestinians. Who ever takes over there will be no great change in American policy towards Israel. It's going to be a more difficult path for European nations after the ICJ ruling on Friday. They will find it harder to ignore the ruling.

Trump is parroting '' world peace ''. We'll see how that works out as it looks as if he'll be elected.

Chinese forging ahead and laying the foundations for a unity Palestinian government.

Great. A new Palestine with a few Chinese airbases in it would upset a lot of countries. Especially those countries who supplied the murder weapons to Israel.

Looks like the tide of USA support for genocide is finally starting to turn.

    This from the Washington Post.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered a defiant address before Congress on Wednesday, castigating critics of Israel’s war in Gaza as either motivated by Iran or antisemitism. The Israeli leader boasted about Israeli efforts to limit civilian casualties and allow humanitarian aid into the Palestinian enclave, a view that contradicts with the United Nations and international aid groups. While dozens of liberal Democrats boycotted the remarks, Republicans offered boisterous applause and many Democratic leaders clapped and stood up during various moments of the speech.

I think he's the fall guy. The genocide will be normalised and he'll take the fall as the one who went too far.

Netanyahu was proved right about that the US and other Western countries did with Iran when Obama was president because, after that deal was done, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was arrested and tried and convicted on bogus charges because the Revolutionary Guards felt emboldened enough to imprison her so that they could use her as leverage to force the UK to pay back the money owed for tanks the delivery of which was cancelled in 1979 because of the overthrowing of the Shah.

Is this conjecture on your part or a statement of fact. I ask because if we believe some western press outlets no dual citizens or westerners ever arrested for spying in Iran are actually spies, instead they are all political pawns. While I believe that is possible in some cases- perhaps even in the case you mention. Is this really plausible in every case Political Analyst?

I mean are we going to deny that spies operate in allied countries never mind those of foes. With this in mind we know the FBI have been kept very busy over the years with Mossad activity in America. It just might be possible then that some foreigners arrested by Iranian intelligence for spying are actually spies .

The standing ovations every 45 seconds from the US politicians was quite a sight.

Fairly pathetic to witness the same US politicians from both sides of the aisle give a war criminal like Netanyahu standing ovations whilst being critical of a war criminal like Putin.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was not a spy. Western governments respect the media's editorial independence.

Do intelligence organisations always admit when people are arrested on suspicion of spying that they are in fact their agents? She may have been a spy and was then used for leverage by the Iranians or simply being a pawn all along. If you have proof that she wasn't a spy then fair enough, but if your opinion is merely an assertion based on your own views then I will remain sceptical.

It's almost as if there is no principle involved - that condemnation depends on if the trangressor is deemed a friend or foe.

Morally vacant, both Democrats and Republicans.

If you have outrage about one person you suspect was imprisoned without basis, you must be absolutely mental about tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians locked up somewhere in Israeli facilities without trial or access to their legal system. Never mind the injured ones taken hostage and strapped to the front of jeeps to be used as literal human shields.

    Sociopathic comments from Michael Martin.

Still willing to put asylum seekers in a building where drones with bombs are hovering overhead apparently.

Its almost like he doesn't care about anything except winning . These politicians really have to get their own way.

Such a strange post, lets laugh at some pro-palestine protesters do something not so smart and ignore what the IDF are doing. Does that make mass murder in Gaza and the attack of palestines in the West Bank okay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,757 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

They are not pro-Palestine, they are pro-Hamas.

They are supporting a terrorist organisation that engages in the rape and murder of Jews.

  • Registered Users Posts: 186 ✭✭WEST

Some of those protestors are indeed misguided. No one should support Hamas, like wise no one should be supporting the actions of Israel which are acting like a terrorist state. Both are bad.

No point engaging. Folks like that lad defend Occupied Palastine by deflecting away from where the actual atrocities are happening. 50 kids might have been killed in an airstrike but ya know, look at the people writing on a statue over there. Isn't that terrible.

Don't even bother trying to point out that Hamas don't exist in the West Bank or that this **** is happening for years. They don't want to know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,140 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

    How do you know that?

There has been rape and murder by the IDF too as well as the brutal murder of 17,000 children, average age of 5. But sure they're Muslims so in many people's eyes that is a good thing, which is absolutely shameful.

Apparently Kamala Harris and Bibi had a frank discussion. She effectively snubbed his speech to Congress. I am not so naive to believe this will mean a radical change in American policy towards Israel, but It might mean Harris will not let Bibi run rings around her as Joe did.

i think Bibi will be even more determined for Donald to win Now.

Speaking of Bibi, he and Bernie Sanders won't be exchanging Christmas cards this year after his speech condemning a suspected war criminal being invited to speak to Congress. A great man is Bernie. No doubt the Israeli apologists are in full agreement about this:)

Bernie Sanders always seemed an honourable man, who had too much morals to be American President. Biden pressing Bibi to work for a cease-fire and hostage exchange deal seemed very weak. Just empty words that we have heard for the last few months.
