they may not be harmless at all but they won't be 2,000 lb bombs for sure and hopefully the Israelis who have safe rooms will be safe unlike the poor Palestinians in their tents with no protection and no food or medicine.

Never ?? The Israelis love their human shields.

    ...

Germany has told it's citizens to leave Iran immediately.

Two ways of looking at this

    1. This is some epic trolling by Iran to either force a deal with the wider community, possibly lifting of some sanctions or scare Israel into never going at them again.

    2. They feel they must strike back after the consulate attack or look weak and possibly face more internal opposition.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

they are bigging up the we are about to strike back massively so much they will have to do something now or lose serious face

  • It's psychological warfare, keeping the Israelis living in fear, same idea with Hamas and Hezbollah terrorism. Those Israelis have to put up with alot of sh1t, surrounded by neighbours that want to wipe them off the map. On the internet people calling them child murderers . And even when they're outside Israel they still get alot of abuse, it's a bad time to be a Jew. I don't know how they put up with it.

The most senior IDF commander dismissed for his role in the drone strike
that killed seven aid workers in Gaza is a settler who signed an open
letter in January calling for the territory to be deprived of aid, it
    can be revealed

In the letter, Mandel, a religious nationalist who lives in a
settlement in the occupied West Bank, called, with more than 130 other
reserve officers and commanders, for the flow of aid into Gaza to be
    restricted.

The letter was sent on January 20 to the Israeli War
Cabinet and the IDF chief of staff and implored them to “do everything
in your power” not to allow “humanitarian supplies and the operation of
hospitals inside Gaza City” following its evacuation.

The aid workers killed in the strike (clockwise from top left): Palestinian
Saifeddin Issam Ayad Abutaha, Lalzawmi “Zomi” Frankcom of Australia,
Damian Soból of Poland, and Jacob Flickinger of the US and Canada, and
James Kirby, James Henderson and John Chapman of Britain.Credit: AP

The idea was to lay siege to the area until the estimated 130 Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza were returned.

A 7 year old could join up the dots. There was no error. To give an idea how much of shit the Israeli authorities don't give, the investegative report into the incident amounts to 539 words.

Everything is limited, but the iron dome system is cutting edge. It calculates the trajectory of income rockets and if it calculates the rocket will land in uninhabited areas, it won't shoot it down. Israel being so small, they don't need long range interceptors, so each launcher can take 20 missiles, each battery has up to 4 launchers and they have 10+ batteries deployed. So fully stocked up, that's 800 missiles ready to defend before reloading. Really impressive system, tuned to their needs.

So 50 missiles from Lebanon won't deplete Israeli AA.

Most of the Iranian missiles will be shot down. This is why if the Iranians do launch an attack they will try to overwhelm the Iron dome in the hope some get drones or missiles get through. I am still doubtful Iran will launch a direct attack. This could be psychological warfare and a way to extract concessions from America by limiting their response to proxies. They didn't go to war over Soleimani afterall , despite all the loud noises they made , they did sod all in the end

Iran won't launch a direct attack. If they did, it may or may not be successful, regardless, there would be explosions in Tehran within hours and they won't see Israel coming. Iran are in a pickle, after all the bluster, they need to hit back to save face, but not too hard it elicits a strong Israeli counter response etc…

Dozens more U.S. service members have been diagnosed with
traumatic brain injuries following last month's Iranian missile attacks
that targeted American forces at two Iraqi bases, the Defense Department
said Monday, bringing the total to 109.

    Of those, 76
patients have since been returned to duty, the Pentagon said in a
statement. There were 45 more cases since the department's last report,
and all 109 patients have been diagnosed with what it called "mild
    traumatic brain injury."

Might look like sod all, but that's not for want of trying. They were lucky.

I'd be surprised if Iran launched a direct attack. Excuse the pun but Iran v Israel is David v Goliath.

Iran has a large regional military on paper but it's light years behind Israel in terms of technology.

Any strike on Israel would come back to them tenfold.

Hamas are a ruthless terrorist organisation whose aim is the destruction of the Israeli state but this not mean that Israel is right to kill ,30,000 civilians many of which are women and children it also does not justify bombing most of Gaza into rubble they have killed many aid workers and made it hard to deliver food and water to gaza

America has been the most powerful supporter of Israel probably because the Jewish vote is important to both political party's especially the democrats Biden is losing the youth vote due to his support of Israel he simply cannot afford to lose the Jewish vote it's also a fact that a large part of the liberal media are Jewish or strong supporters of Israel

Iran has used proxys to attack Israel usually it does not want to get involved in a war with America it can supply an unlimited amount of drones and missiles to proxy groups to attack Israel Iran would not survive a full scale war with america or it's allies

"If it calculates that it won't land in a populated area then it won't shoot it down"

    How does that work?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,194 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

    Iran must be protected!

    Whens the pro-Iranian marches?

  • Seems that military assets are moving around Iran, at present:

The US had observed Iran moving military assets around internally, including drones and cruise missiles, signaling that it was preparing to attack Israeli targets from inside its own territory, according to two people familiar with US intelligence. One of the people said that the US had observed Iran readying as many as 100 cruise missiles.

If they have the sheer audacity to attack Israel directly, Israel should respond by terminating their nuclear ambitions for good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,969 ✭✭✭✭banie01

The rockets launched from Lebanon and/or Palestine are unguided, short ranged and generally follow a predictable ballistic arc. That can be computed to a final impact point fairly easily and the Iron Dome is programmed to fire only if predicted arc impacts a populated area.

Iron Dome is relatively cheap at @ $10k a shot but missiles are still a limited resource.

Israel by having the audacity to strike a consulate building, which is probably in violation of international law, had to expect a response.

It was probably done by warmonger Bibi to try and open up another front to get America back onside and prolong his rule. I hope Iran does not give Bibi what he wants.

  • If Netanyahu really wants to go down that path, wouldn't be simply conduct another provocation against Iran?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,051 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

If Iran is smart it will not make it easy for him to do so. If Iran does not escalate the situation, the Americans, since they are keen to avoid a wider war that will inevitably pull them in, should warn Bibi in private that such a move is unacceptable . Whether Bibi will listen is another matter- as we know he craves power above everything else.

In a similar vein, I think it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that Putin persuaded Iran to get Hamas to launch the original attack. It's done a good job of stopping US aid to Ukraine and now he's on track to take the country. Also made for a great distraction with the world taking their eyes off his evil doings.

A very weak gaslightling attempt. It is quite clear who are the only party in that region who are able to unilaterally, and unprovoked, attack and kill their neighbours without any real fear of consequences

It would be like a heavily armed mafia group going around and terrorising and murdering random people on the street, and then looking for sympathy because the public aren't that fond of them.

Netanyahu must be losing his mind that he's failing to drag Iran into a full scale war. The longer Iran refuse to play his games the worse he looks.

  • "The three women who rang the doorbell of a Jewish nurse near Amsterdam last month initially seemed like neighbors paying a call.

After the nurse opened the door on March 27, however, the women called her a “child murderer” and told her to leave the Netherlands, the nurse said. "

“It feels like in World War II when the addresses of Jews were given out,”

"a woman who had forgotten to conceal her Star of David pendant, which she usually does, was called “rotten Jewish whore” by teenagers who chanted the insults at her at around noon in the center of Utrecht"

several protesters disrupted a concert near Rotterdam by Lenny Kuhr, a Jewish singer. The protesters chanted “Zionist child murderer”

“it is now normal for Jews to be screamed at on the street. It’s more and more antisemitic,” Dutch Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs told The Times of Israel this week. “People are scared and nervous,”

"Lots of Jews in Europe are afraid to go to synagogue, to send their kids to school, to show a kippah or a Star of David,”

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/once-a-tolerant-haven-holland-sees-antisemitism-surge-as-jews-across-europe-scent-danger/

If anybody wondering why Jews need a homeland. Antisemitism shouldn't be happening again in Europe, you can see how saying "child murderers" can be inflammatory because it will be interpreted differently by different groups.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,767 ✭✭✭✭TheValeyard

Well the IDF should stop murdering children

But I agree people should stop equating Jews as Zionists or even Israeli supporters.

Would you have the same opinion of all the countries the seized Russian billionaires' ships?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,640 ✭✭✭TokTik

Iranians should release the crew and scuttle it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,382 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

And people still complain about Bucha. But the argument for its necessity can simply be proven by showing that after those incidents came to light, an unwelcome remark about them was made towards a Russian person in the Netherlands. Thereby proving Russophobia and hence the necessity of those actions in the first place!!

Or does that kind of circular logic only make sense to you when it comes to the zionists?

People keep claiming Israel is stealing land, yet look at the speed of Islam. This was not a peaceful conversion, it was spread through the tip of a sword.

Jews were is Jerusalem over 4000 years ago (it’s in the Torah,) Jesus was from Bethlehem (as in the Bible), a Jewish city which is now in Palestine a Muslim country. Islamic invaders stole these lands, then the Romans kicked Jews out of Jerusalem. Boarders in this region have shifted for centuries, yet Jews have the best claim to most of the disputed lands.

Turkeys capital was the Christian city of Constantinople, Muslim invaders sacked and slaughtered the whole city after Christian invaders sacked it during the crusades. Are the Turks going to hand it back to the Greeks, or even the half of Cyprus they stole?

Hearing people take about genocide is more than rich considering how Islam was spread. Christian’s have been are still are being systematically wiped out in the Middle East.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,382 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

It may surprise you to learn that there were a number of wars and conflicts not blamed on Muslims in Europe subsequent to your most recent reference point of 1700. You might not have gotten that far in the book yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭Homelander

If you're so anti-Israel you're pro-Iran you should probably take a break and reevaluate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,384 ✭✭✭Potatoeman

Are people going to start marching to get the Turks out of Cyprus? They basically stole half of it in 1974. Stolen land eh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,382 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

I wonder if the people who spout such guff based on biblical fairytales would also support an "open border" policy in Ireland towards any immigrant with some vague connection to an Irish ancestor? Open border and an entitlement to be given land and property here.

Where would we set the threshold? Maybe a result of more than 3% Irish DNA on an ancestry.com test? Too low or too high?

well there is one going on at present and iran is playing a dangerous game with two nuclear powers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,382 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

Playing a dangerous game by having diplomatic embassies in other countries?

The US restrains Ukraine from targeting strategically important infrastructure such as refineries that are located within Russia. Could you imagine the US supporting Ukraine bombing, say, the Indian embassy in Greece or Turkey, because it thinks India was too Russia-leaning?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,292 ✭✭✭combat14

  • Iran has seized a ship linked to Israel near the Strait of Hormuz, with 25 crew on board. The MSC Aries is owned by Israeli businessman Eyal Ofer.

It was the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, too — not some peripheral group linked to the Houthis.

Is this what constitutes the entirety of the Iranian retaliation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,382 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

And the relevance of something that happened 30+ years ago today is?????????

BTW, quote from the article in question:

What some said they found shocking, rather, was the court’s failure to provide concrete evidence of Iran’s direct involvement or shed new light on the case after 30 years of setbacks and scandals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,292 ✭✭✭combat14

the same relevace as something that happened today, yesterday or 4000 years ago in the middle east region it is all connected to the iranian war on israel today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,382 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

How so? An incident in Argentina 30 years ago. not in the Middle East. Alleged Iranian involvment (without proof). But it somehow can be cynically leveraged by zionists today for advantage and profit.

Is any other country granted that privilege? Why don't Russia just find some random attack on a Russian Orthodox person in the early 1990's somewhere in the world and allege Turkish involvement without proof and thereby justify an attack on the Turkish embassy in Egypt? You'd say that was ridiculous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,292 ✭✭✭combat14

if there is no "proof" iran attacked israel embassy in argentina ... where's the proof israel attacked iran consulate in syria

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,640 ✭✭✭TokTik

The quotes from the IDF spokesman and Israeli Minister of Defence stating they’d done it would probably be evidence……….. but being israeli they’ll probably get a pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,241 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Turkish occupied Cyprus is still regarded as an illegal occupation by the international community. The UN refuses to recognise the 'state' as being legitimate, but as an area under illegal military occupation.
