Dunnes Stores Delivery

A quick question on Dunnes delivery that someone may already figured out. We currently live just inside an eircode area that Dunnes do not deliver to (or to put it another way just outside an eircode area they do deliver to). On a daily basis Dunnes Vans pass the door of the house to deliver groceries to other properties further along the delivery route (upto 20-25km further). Because of this policy about 1km further along the road there is a group of 8 houses at opposite sides of the road. Dunnes will deliver to the houses on the left of the road but not to those on the right of the road.

I have contacted their customer service but all i get is a canned answer of we don't deliver to that eircode area and have no plans to do so. Does anyone know a contact number/way to escalate this where I can speak with someone who has some common sense and doesn't just throw out the party line.

I could arrange for delivery to one of the houses in the eircode that they do deliver to and collect it their but that would require the Dunnes van to pass my house to deliver the groceries, me to travel the 1km/2km to collect the groceries, and then both me and the van to turn around and drive to and past my house again.

For reference we live about 23km from 2 Dunnes Stores that do deliveries and both will deliver to North Kerry (70km away) and North Clare (60km away).

Does anybody have any other possible solution...

You could simply go into your own Dunnes and ask them about it but the fact remains that Dunnes have no obligation to include you in their service if it doesn’t suit them.

To be honest, instances where a business refuses to the money of a customer willing to give it to them because of ‘reasons’ should be a sackable offence for the CEO and others responsible.

That would be a complete waste of time. Local store management would have no discretion when it comes to decisions like these. Unless you are personally acquainted with a direct descendant of Ben Dunne Sr., I'd just not bother chasing this.

Not ludicrous. Objective of a business is to make money. Refusing money of willing customers is a fundamental breach of the job of those running the business.

It is perfectly legal to refuse service. you are talking tripe. In Ireland we live under irish law. Any store shop or service provider has the right to refuse service for any reason they choose - with the below exceptions. your just waffling on and incorrect in your assumptions. Nor do they have to disclose the reason why.

*UNLESS it is done on the grounds of discrimination.*

The Gender ground, includes men and women and transgender

The Marital Status ground, includes single, married, separated, divorced or widowed

The Sexual Orientation ground, includes heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual orientation

The Religious Belief ground, includes religious background, outlook or none

The Age ground, applies to all ages above the maximum age at which a person is statutorily obliged to attend school

The Race ground, includes race, colour, nationality, or ethnic or national origin (including being a traveller.)

Im sorry, but you are talking rubbish. There are plenty of reasons to refuse service. Some proper, some stupid, but your opinion is laughable.
