Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And if you want to use similar comparisons, since Oct 7th 2023, Israel have killed the equivalent of 4,000 9/11 American children............living in the West Bank.........where Hamas have no power

Should the Palestinians (or the world) tolerate that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭Tonynewholland

11 Israeli soldiers killed yesterday all under 24 while Benjamin's son is enjoying life in Miami and doesn't come home to join his reserve unit.

Bad day for the IDF probably explains the bomb dropped on the refugee camp

Palestinians don't have a choice, what you're seeing is the result of the decision hamas made for them. hamas knew this would be the response. Israel doesn't have a choice in that it can't tolerate hamas being left where it is. hamas, palestinian islamic jihad, hezbollah, iran, and ruzzia all have choices, they can stop.

I'm talking about Gaza, not the West Bank, they're two very different things.

All they needed to do is throw a few guards at the wall. The attack would have failed then. Now they are just on a recruitment drive for more extremists.

Well you can't use some method to scale up numbers when it suits you, and then not allow the use of that method when it doesn't.

There is no Hamas in the West Bank. But should we be surprised if there was? Your equivalent 4,000 American 9/11 kids in the last couple of weeks............and that is just normal. That's every couple of weeks.

I saw an interview with some Palestinian academic where he was being presented with some claim that all Palestinian suffering in Gaza was due to Hamas and if they would only get rid of them, everything would be perfect. He said something to effect of "Imagine for one second a Gaza without Hamas. Imagine how perfect that place would be. Let's give this place a name. Let's call it 'The West Bank'. Because it already exists. And Israeli's are killing Palestinians there too"

You make it sound like the Raf would have been justified in leveling the bogside and other such spots.

No one would be really concerned if there was a number of 3am knocks on the door in places like Dubai or Qatar where the head honchos live, but what Isreal is doing will poison the well in a world the west is no longer 100% dominant in.

Some lad from Gaza crossed the border and travelled 3 miles into Israel before being killed yesterday. IDF must've been to busy making TikTok videos again

None of the above deflection change the facts. hamas has turned Gaza into their own military base to launch attacks against Israel from behind civilian shields. Israel has both the ability and the will to pursue hamas into Gaza with the objective of degrading that military ability and killing as many hamas members as possible.

The wooly headed thinking about ceasefires is done by people who's neighbours aren't like this guy below.

The main deflection is pulling out random videos of spokespersons to try to deflect from the targeted killing of brown children in Gaza.

The destruction of a State is not the same as the destruction of it's people. Irish people longed for the destruction of the British Empire - they did not necessarily long for the death of all British people. Whereas Israel just wants to perpetuate genocide against the Palestinians.

You can perform as many mental gymnastics as you please. It's the terrorists that are using, your term, brown children as human shields so they can attack Israel. I see this all over boards, Israel must stop fighting, all the time ignoring what hamas is telling the world.

There are no mental gymnastics here. I'm not the one trying to justify targeting killing of innocent people and children.

If you want to accuse Hamas of using kids as shields, well I'm sure that Hamas can accuse Israel of using civilians as shields by putting them into kibbutzes on the land they stole as a buffer between the people they stole it from and the rest of the Israelis. Idiotic "logic" can equally be applied on both sides if you want to start that ball rolling.

Another blatant war crime this morning with an air strike on a refugee camp. I'm reminded of the Mai Lai massacre when the US army sent out an official wire that it's army had battled and defeated over 100 communist soldier - when in reality they had raped and murdered hundreds of defenceless women and kids. Israel can literally obliterate a refugeee camp with a missile strike and eejits will cheer them on as long as the Israeli's say "ah shure there was a Hamas fella sitting on wall there when we took him out".

I'm not trying to justify anything here. It's obvious you're putting motives on me in your own head. I'm clearly saying people calling for a ceasefire are at nothing. Israel has the capability and will to persecute this war to the extent where they either achieve their goals or are persuaded likely by the US to a different course. Though with the US moving entire carrier groups, it's unlikely that's going to happen.

hamas are using the people of Gaza as human shields, in their term in "office" they have done, and want to do nothing for the population. They are building tunnels and fortifications while bringing in weapons - not food, medicine, or fuel - so they could intentionally do what we're witnessing here now. They want Israel, who have that reputation, to kill as many Palestinians as possible - they have said as much publicly, but sure ignore that as well.

That they upset you to this degree doesn't change that those are the facts of the situation. Wishing them away won't change them. March a million people through Dublin in the morning won't change them. But sure people will feel good about themselves.

Your first sentence is absurd; of course you are trying to justify the continuing Israeli murders.

If, as you say, Palestinians want the Israelis to kill as many Palestinians as possible (another absurdity), why are the Israelis doing the bidding of Hamas?

Now 3,000 Palestinian children dead, and potentially another 1,000 under rubble. You want the killing to continue! Shame on you.

The current situation is between genocide and a war crime.

They can warfight all they want. Most don't give a f*ck about that. Its the war-criming they can't do without international outcry and serious consequences for them this time around.

You said they have the ability to root out Hamas. They do in their hoop. Not without levelling block after block of residential and community infrastructure. Go away outta that with your blinkered nonsense. What you're seeing all over Boards is common sense and a call for justice. The majority of Israelis generally want peace and justice. The majority rarely hold sway, no more than they did in Northern Ireland.

Its understandable that the Brits won't come down hard on the Israeli sheer slaughter. Its right up their esoteric, arms length clinical street, ala Ballymurphy, Bloody Sunday and far worse in India. And the Israeli diplomat spies wonder why the Irish seem so jaundiced against brute state force? Well, the tables will turn for them; for all of them whether they believe in peaceful sharing or wild copycat slaughter.

You won’t get much sense out of Johny whizz bang, usual war turkey nonsense. Kick a dog for decades and be outraged it bites back.

What Isreal is doing will give Iran the perfect pretence to block Hormuz to western shipments to stop ‘western aggression’ and the other locals will be fine with it for a while to soften their cough.

Me stating the facts is wanting kids dead, more mental gymnastics. Your post is riddled with things I didn't actually say.

For a start, a reason is different to an excuse. Israel has reason to degrade hamas, due tot he attacks it's carrying out and it's intent to carry out more attacks.

Another correction for you is that it's hamas that has said it want's as many Palestinians killed as possible. Many posters have agreed with that re recruitment drive etc. They have even said it on TV.

Saying truth upsets many posters here into twisting and personalising simple facts.

Point out where I have said something factually incorrect.

Whatever hit the ambulances outside the hospital today looks very similar to the strike from the hospital last week. Another misfiring Hamas missile or maybe it was an Israeli drone strike after all

If this link is correct the proverbial is going to hit the fan, thought it was strange Australia deploying two aircraft carriers and troops earlier in the week to the region but all out war is looking likely

There's not a lot of them in the world apart from what the US have.

Australia will always side with the US but I was surprised to hear a few of the ex Australian leaders talking against Israel.

Can you trust the word of a paid informer. I think not

This week's tactic of bombing bakeries is a new low even for Israel.

Informer brings a lot of baggage I to the Irish phycology. He obviously knows and walked away from Hamas and has a different outlook now.

He know Israel cannot be defeated he realises the implications of that. He is a pragmatics and a realistic. Michael Collins was the same.

HAMAS is in power in Gaza for nearly twenty years now. What have they achieved, what is there goal.

They have build 500+ miles of tunnels under a densely populated area. They syphon off civilian aid ( fuel, medical and food) that comes in from Egypt to drive a war they cannot win and use the population of Gaza as a shield.

The Gazan population was fooled into supporting them and accepting the status quo. The 10/7 attack was a huge miscalculation on there part, I feel sorry for the ordinary Gazan's but HAMAS started a war that has lead us here.

    How does this stop….?

Biden seems petrified to criticise Israel sufficiently because he knows it will cost the Democratic Party and future democratic candidates millions of votes.

So basically Israel has zero deterrent… this could go on, off and on for years….

Europe will be flooded with more immigrants, and you need not listen to any temporary horse shît you are peddled.

so there is no satisfactory end or solution in sight for anyone…. If anyone steps in for Palestine… it’s WW3…

interestingly the head of the Pakistan's military expressed 'unequivocal' diplomatic, moral support to Palestinians

Interestingly Pakistan's army chief on Tuesday said that Islamabad will continue to support Palestinians in their struggle to end the "unlawful occupation of their territories and Muslims’ sacred places.”

“The Palestinian people have unequivocal diplomatic, moral, and political support of the Pakistani nation and we will continue to support the principled stance of our brethren for enduring resolution of the Palestinian issue and end to the unlawful occupation of their territories and Muslims’ sacred places, ” Gen. Asim Munir said while addressing a corps commanders’ meetings at the army headquarters in the northeastern garrison city of Rawalpindi….

there is seemingly no easy out for anyone….

You can't take the word of an informer seriously unless you know what his motives are and how he was turned.

    Some of their brethren, anyway.

Don't hold up Pakistan as a beacon for anything. No Taliban without them.
