Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hopefully. 😁

Danny Ric qualifying 4th ahead of Perez in 5th and Yuki 15th - impressive stuff.

A bit embarrassing for Checo in a RB getting out qualified at his home GP by Ricciardo in an Alpha Tauri

Good to see Riccardo up there, wonder if Norris can recover to get some points. Hope it's a good race.

10 place grid penalty for Sargeant for overtaking under a yellow flag

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,446 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Watch quali highlights on channel 4 just there. Might not be a popular view, but sky's coverage is better across the board for me.

Regarding qualifying, mad there was no penalties for Verstappen or Russell, but the stewards said that it was okay because otherwise there would have been dangerous traffic at the end of the lap. Seems like something needs to be done going forward though.

Great qualifying for ferrari, but still see them slipping back once race gets going. And great result from Ricciardo, hopefully he can turn it into something mega tomorrow..

Finally, you could hear the Perez fans shouting over Verstappen when being interviewed, I don't get it. It's not like they are close together or direct competitors - it's delusional to think they are. They could do with growing up a little.

    Ms

Great qualifying by Ferrari and delighted for Daniel too. Would love to see him get a podium in the race now.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Why is there little or no mention of Verstappen and Russell's investigation on the F1 site? You have to dig deep into the FIA website to find the answer. The rules are contradictory is the reason....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭Corben Dallas

That's not the first time Max has blocked the pitlane exit.... why didn't he get a penalty? FIA are afraid to hand our penalties to top drivers, not brave enough to do it.

If you're parked at the head of the Q at pit lane exit if you don't move off within 3 sec you should get a penalty. Unless its a provable technical issue stopping the car from moving, that driver gets a penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,506 ✭✭✭Killinator

As much as they deserved penalties it's a bit much to say the FIA are afraid to hand them out to top drivers less than a week after they full on disqualified Leclerc and Hamilton from a GP!

It's just their usual crap inconsistencies.

Looking at the on boards, Russell came to a complete stop but there was an Aston and Ferrari stopped further up at the pit exit but Verstappen didn't actually stop the car just kept it rolling very slowly trying to make some space. It would seem like the FIA would rather the cars backed up in the pitlane than the final sector but they can't come out at Singapore saying they got it wrong and not penalise drivers when they do it again. It the usual inconsistent nature of the FIA

Another pit lane start for stroll, got points from it last week so might aswell go again. Seems Aston are in no mans land with regards to their car. Hopefully Ricciardo can get some points today.

Re the delays in pirlane, why not make it a specific gap between cars coming out? That way you always need to wait a certain length of time (say 2 or 3 seconds) any any breaches of that are strict penalties? Would mean that cars would need to be careful with timing to ensure they get a run out, but would avoid this odd scenario where one driver can affect loads behind them.

Just turn Q3 into a one lap shoot out, one at a time with tenth in Q2 going first, then 9th etc. If it looks like rain might affect that then revert to the old system.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,196 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Not exciting enough, you need cars going across the line every 10-15 seconds for maximum drama and excitement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,028 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

The cars shouldn't be allowed stop at the pit exit if the light is green, if you do stop then it should be a penalty

George Russell explaining the workings of the steering wheel on Sky there. I couldn't listen to him all day but it was informative.

Anyways, I thought DRS was automatically engaged (don't know why) - it seems they have to press a button themselves for it.

Bernie doing the grid walk I see, fair play to her.

    Bernie is great!

Norris starting on the soft compound to try and make ground early, mainly at the start you'd imagine.

It will be an interesting race with the grid as it is. Norris will need to get a move on early with the soft tyre.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    Perez and Leclerc clash,

Verstappen with his best start in quite some time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Perez might just have signed himself out of a seat at his home grand prix.

    Bye bye Perez

Adios checo.. he really can’t help himself!

  • Registered Users Posts: 548 ✭✭✭MaddChris

    That was stupid from Perez

Meanwhile LeClerc teleports through turn 2 😄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,573 ✭✭✭JeffKenna

    Nooooooo

    Perez' fault, again.

What a start. Perez is officially out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

He couldn't refuse that open door on the outside of Leclerc, but to turn in like that was stupid. Best view is from the on board of Leclerc.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Big balls on Max for that move. Perez incident like Hamilton in Qatar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,711 ✭✭✭This is it

He knew Max was on the inside, pure stupidity.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Stupid by Perez in fairness. Le Clerc could go no where. Perez had more space.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 10,797 Mod ✭✭✭✭artanevilla

    What is Perez doing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,951 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

That is sad, poor Checo, whopper start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

They're trying to get him back out

Time to congratulation Ricciardo on getting the 2024 RedBull seat

I fear this race will be fairly boring after the first lap.

We wont see Perez in a Red Bull next year.

The funny thing is Perez never has the best reaction time and for once gets which puts him in a good position which he blows.

He’s gone for one too many hero moves in the second half of this season trying to prove himself when he’d a chunk more championship points if he hadn’t.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,397 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

    Shame for the fans

    Not too much overtaking happening

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Some good defending from Ric here,

He could do with DRS himself to help him further.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Absolutely, it was an open goal. The same people would be all over him if he didn't go for it. It's just a lap 1 racing incident, they happen

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭Longing

I think the look on Perez's face when he was in the pits says it all really. He know himself he had to preform today at his home race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,057 ✭✭✭Vic_08

He turned into the apex with 2 cars on his inside, there was only going to be one outcome and that is exactly what happened.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Tsunoda doing what Perez should have done at turn 1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,028 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Honey badger full of fight today, you love to see it
