Any additional services always starts a new contract when I dealth with sky or virgin.

I can’t speak for Virgin but that isn’t always true of Sky, most TV packs over and above the basic are on 31 day rolling contracts unless there’s some sort of special offer discount that requires you to take a 12 month contract.
Appreciate it might be different on Virgin.

Adding Sky Sports on virgin didn’t start a new contract for me. They confirmed it on the phone.
