Criteria for registering with RTB - Mortage Interest Relief

Hi,

I am wondering what the criteria is around registering with RTB.

I am looking at a buy to let and to do corporate type lettings with it, periods of 3 weeks plus.

It looks like to avail of interest relief, you need to register the tenancy with the RTB. Is it possible to register multiple of these tenancies every year, say 12-14?

Isn’t the relief only for existing mortgages and is on the difference between interest now and interest before rate hikes

The thing youre referring to is the new govt scheme. There has been interest relief on buy to let mortgages for quite a while.

I know you can't do short term lets anymore and I am happy to do long terms, especially if I can get interest relief.

That only applies to residential lettings. If the property is let to a company to house employees, it would be a commercial letting. A lot depends on what the o/p is going to do. Anything out of the standard residential letting brings a host of different legal and taxation issues into play. Extreme care is needed.
