Giving a friend a spent or live shell/cartridge

Is it ok after taking a friend out to shoot for the first to let them keep 1 or 2 live or spent rounds?

Short answer No, but this is one of the great fock ups of irish firearm laws.

A shellcase, be it .22, .303, .50 or 25 pounder, is, under irish law, a component part of a firearm, and therefore must be licenced.

NOW, walk into any army surplus shop and buy a bullet-belt or go to an antique shop and buy a 25pounder shellcase for your poker or tongs beside the fireplace.

Whatever about casings, that’s a separate issue. But letting them keep live rounds is pretty irresponsible. Worrying that you’d even consider it tbh.

The law is very clear on this one, as Tony stated.

And as Mellor stated handing a live round to anyone not licenced on it is absolutely illegal and extremely irresponsible.
