Sky q questions

Hi I'm not sure if there is a general thread for this but I've booked sky to come install their Q package next week, was originally going to go for stream but the recording issues sound terrible. Main two questions are can they use my existing dish I used to use for FTA or does it have to be an official sky dish? And does the cable from the dish then have to come in the sitting room and connect to the box beside the tv or just to the router at the window? Thanks

SkyQ requires a different LNB, a wideband LNB on the dish arm, so they'll probably install new dish and LNB.

Two cables from the LNB direct to the SkyQ box. One cable carries the vertical channels, the other cable the horizontal channels.

Do you have any other FTA satellite receivers connected to the existing dish, the new LNB isn't compatible with older legacy receivers. If this is the case a hybrid LNB will be required for both receiver types.

No I dont use the old dish at all but don't fancy the idea of having 2 dished on the back if the house. My tv is on a wall in the centre of the house so not sure how they'll manage to feed the 2 cables over to the tv

They'll remove the old dish and replace it with the new Sky dish and LNB. (A hybrid LNB can feed many receivers from the single dish)

In certain situations they can use a single cable LNB, someone posted it here previously.

An SCR LNB (single cable routing) can be used but the question is does the installer carry them in the van? The installer then has to change the LNB type in the setup menu.
