Could see a ward, gleeson, flynn back row

Curious to see if calvey can break in post move to losehead, stronger scrummager than usanov i think

I think Flynn will push Ward hard for the 7 jersey definitely. I feel as if the best thing for Ireland would be to use Mckillop’s quality in the starting 6 shirt with Edogbo providing the impact off the bench that only he can with his pace and power. I don’t think Ward will play 6 as he more of a 7 and in my opinion he wouldnt be as good as Mckillop

IntInteresting to see what way the coaching staff go. New head coach also

McKillop, Gleeson, Flynn would have a nice balance to it. Or maybe Corrigan, Gleeson, Flynn.

Hard to know about Australia, Argentina beat them in the warm up game recently but Argentina have a couple of very good players in their pack, Australia scrum went backwards against new Zealand but got a few penalties again SA.the maul looked good against SA and they have 2 very good wingers

Hard to know what to make of the Georgia win against England, seemed like it was half hearted attempt from England more of a run-out than a warm-up

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,507 ✭✭✭typhoony

Italy are definitely a concern and with only a point between us in the 6 nations we need to be on top of our game to beat them

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,922 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

Will these games be shown on virgin media ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,934 ✭✭✭nerd69

Stop that one wing and hold them even at scrum time and i think we should win comfortably enough.

The scrum and half backs are the biggest weaknesses in this team vs some of the previous in my opinion

I had the same question, just looking at the schedule the first match doesn't appear to be on any of the usual channels (RTE, TG4, VM, BBC, UTV, C4) and the IRFU website had mentioned recently that full details of broadcast coverage would be announced soon, with the following already announced a few months ago:
"The World Rugby U-20 Championship will be available to watch everywhere on the planet, either through local broadcast partners in South Africa (Supersport), France (L’Équipe TV), New Zealand (Sky NZ), and Fiji (Fiji Broadcasting Corporation), or via RugbyPass TV which will broadcast all of the matches for free in markets without exclusive deals."

Just looks like a lot of sport on at the moment making it clash; Tour de France, Euros, GAA, Racing etc

Haven't seen a break-down per position anywhere so would this be correct?

So Rugbypass TV is the only way of watching it, I blame it all on Tubridy. At least it's in the same timezone

Am I right in saying Scalabrin was the winger that almost single handedly kept them in the game against us during the 6N? He was electric.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,955 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Yeah he was excellent. The tighthead whose name escapes me is probably their best player and seems to be missing.

That’s a bit of a surprising team, no Gleeson and Gavin on the bench, Bell starting and Tracy in the centre.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,468 ✭✭✭ulsteru20s

Do we think this is a rotation, lots of knocks or just new coach preference?

    It's quite a surprising selection.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,381 ✭✭✭FrannoFan

Usanov gone with injury. Didn't notice that in initial squad announcement

  • Registered Users Posts: 505 ✭✭✭Hey_Ho_Lets_Go_3

    Damn

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,176 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

Thought the same. There are games every 5 days, so rotation will be very important.

Very surprised if they wouldn't have Gleeson in the squad by choice though.

Where did you see that? He was listed in initial squad.
