Dented door - how much should I expect to pay?

Just looking for some guidance on what typical cost to expect for repairing this.

    it’s a Mitsubishi outlander.

main dealership quoted me just under 1k for repair and paint. I assumed this would be the high point for a quote. When checked a body shop place they said it would need a new door.

any guidance on if getting this repaired might be a mistake or if I should bother continuing to shop around? Would I expect to get a repair job for less?

Dent repair, filling, sanding back, painting and blending in to adjoining panels to do the job right. I’d say the quote is reasonable.

What did you wrap it around?

A blond moment driving then 😉😂😂😂

I think you quote too is about right. There is a bit of work getting it right as above poster said!

A grand sounds about right, if not on the cheaper side of things. I once paid 600 to get 2 sills resprayed with no repair required.

Sounds about right. The new door is probably the cheapest option. There is a lot of work to repair yours and labour isn't cheap, that is before you have to pay for painting.

I'd try to find a 2nd hand door in the same colour.

Check online to see if a secondhand door is available, would be maybe be the cheapest option and potentially better than repairing as it’s a hard one to get that perfect

Have a look at Partfinder for a second hand door, there's a 2016 one in monaghan that looks similar to your colour

one place quoted 2.5k plus for new door. Not sure if they meant new new or 2nd hand. Either way it’s clearly not worth it from my end.

thanks for the guidance on the price for repair. Illl see if I can find a 2nd hand door myself and if not I’ll go with the repair from main dealer.

Even finding a second hand door in the same colour might not guarantee a match up in colour. Weather elements can fade colours over time and no two cars would have the same exposure to those elements so you might still need a body shop to blend in the replacement door. Might still be the cheaper option however

A good body shop should be better value than the main dealer. Main dealers don't actually do bodywork generally speaking.

It was uploaded 2 years ago so it’s unlikely they’ll have any parts left on it. Probably been crushed by now.

Just FYI OP, all the 3rd generation Outlander doors are the same and anything from 2013 on will fit yours. The 'facelift' was only front and back on them.

Just be thankfull you only got the door I guess, a few more panels and it would have been an insurance write off as beyond economic repair.

    Here's another in Kilcock.

Or Galway if it's closer to you.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.
