I have 150k in a deposit account. I am wondering what options there are for investing.

1) AIB have a 3% deposit a/c

2) I already have seperate pension.

3) Buy agri land.

4) buy investment property . Property may fall

5) bonds

Any reason you don't include the stock market in some form such as cheap world index funds?

Second question is; what's your investment horizon and are you able to lose money or can you sit it out until things improve (investments go up and down in value so option 3 & 4 could be worth less at point of sale if timed wrong)?

Well not only that but a balanced portfolio would normally be 8 - 12 companies in at least 5 different sectors as well but without knowing the investment horizon (I'm presuming long as we're talking property & land) as well the goal for it.

I would say the intent of that post is to take advantage of the 4% interest rates they offer, much better than Irish banks.

Spread the money around so you're well under the 100k deposit guarantee scheme.

No need to spread the money around. If a bank is part of the scheme, all the other member banks have guaranteed to cover them for €100K if they go out of business.

Trade Republic and Raisin are in the guarantee scheme for €100K. Light Year €20K. If you have information that they are likely to go bust, then everyone with savings anywhere in the scheme should be very worried.
