I know it’s difficult to tell but is there likely to be an 80 amp fuse in there? Cable size looks like 16mm

cable from ESB isolator to board looks like 10mm

    Maybe a 60 or a 63

Overdue a rewire anyhow not worth getting involved in maxing out fuse

Will esb upgrade the fuse without a rewire? Or do they want certs etc, I have no plans to move the metre

Highly unlikely. A rec would confirm

Upgrading the supply needs main earthing etc upgraded and certs supplied afaik

that would make sense alright, just thought given they have 16s already in that they would out an 80 in instead of a 60

Did esbn issue a notice of potential hazard when they upgraded the meter in 2021. Undersized tails and looks like a red cable is used as a neutral. Agree with others that say it’s Rewire time. It’s not permitted to add a car charger ,solar or electric shower to this installation

There's no consumers main isolator or main overcurrent protection

Moved into our house in 2008 , had a fuse box just like that , and the 60amp fuse blew , left us in the dark , and we couldnt get one anywhere.

Called out a registered sparks and he said check with others if you like , but that it had to be re-wired with breaker box etc.

That is what happened , cost quite a bit too , and an inspector came around at the end of the job to certify the work.
