The post office don’t pay you. They just process the payment. They won’t hand over money they don’t have for you. Check with the welfare office.

If OP on a Jobseekers payment, This might lead to another Kerfuffle as to whether OP will be eligible for the payment whilst in Hospital. Just an observation.
