Well Known Solar PV Supplier Closes, With Customers Apparently Left High and Dry!

    Hi,

A well known Dublin based Solar PV supplier has ceased trading, with many customers having paid hefty deposits for equipment that hasn't been supplied.

The business website is still live, but the phone is not being answered, and the business is showing as permanently closed, if you search for it, on Google.

A Creditors Meeting has been scheduled for 19th December 2023, when customers impacted are expecting to hear that the company is to be liquidated, and is unable to pay its debts.

Based on the current practice of many suppliers, where they press customers for circa 50% deposit at time of booking, it's likely that a lot of customers are now going to lose a lot of their money, given they'll be deemed to be unsecured creditors, so will rank after other higher priority, preferential creditors, so will likely be left with nothing.

Guidance from the Forum Moderators here means that I'm sadly not permitted to name the company in question. But there are groups of customers forming on other social media, so anyone concerned, should quickly find more information online.

This is a perfect example of why customers should not be paying big deposits, at time of booking (unless you are getting immediate delivery and title to the equipment, or maybe paying by credit card).

    Thanks,

    G.
