    Hi there,

Just looking for some tips from any experienced Golf drivers or mechanics out there on the life expectancy of the Mk 5 and if it is worth moving up to newer model next year.

I got the car nearly 3 yrs ago in good nick and it had clocked up to 165K by then. It now has over 220K and still in good nick with no major issues. I was wondering if anyone out there has one from 250K to over 300K, is it still worth hanging onto and if not what year (from 2011 on) Golf is a good option and reliable to purchase including engine ltr spec etc?

    Thanks.

There is no expiry date with a car. If it's running fine with no issues and not costing you anything to keep on the road then just drive it on. When it starts giving you trouble and you have a large repair bill in front of you then decide to part with it or not. Remember replacing it with something else doesn't guarantee you anything, you could easily be replacing it with something that can break your heart and wallet too.

220km is still low enough mileage for a car thats close to 20 years old. Theres no reason to even think about changing it right now.
