By February 1st a lot of cans on sale will not contain the re-turn logo, but the retailer will still charge a deposit.

A lot of rural shops will refuse to take back cans or not offer a cash refund insisting on a credit note. There’s no information on the re-turn website about what to do in this instance or where to complain about it.

Customers will be gouged just like change rounding. A lot of shops in rural Ireland give exact change when the rounding works in your favour, but don’t do the same when it works in their favour.

Not condoning litter, but we pay taxes and LPT for the council to go out and pick up this rubbish. You’re pretty much doing the work you’re paying for someone else to do through taxes.

It’s Ireland. There’s no greed like Irish greed. don’t kid yourself that you won’t be ripped off in some way.

Simple. Don't buy cans in shops that don't subscribe to the scheme. Do you agree

If the can hasn't got the logo then refuse to pay the deposit.

How do I get my deposit back?

From 1 February, 2024, when you purchase a drink featuring the Re-turn logo and pay your deposit fee, you will get a full refund on returning the empty, undamaged container to any retail outlet that sells drinks with the Re-turn logo.

Consumers may return containers to a retailer that takes them back over the counter (manual), or through the use of a a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM). If returning to an RVM, you must insert all Re-turn drinks containers as instructed and you will then be issued with a voucher which may be redeemed at the till. *It is important to note that vouchers issued from an RVM must be redeemed at the same retail outlet.

    They can issue vouchers.

There are already three separate threads about DRS.

You might do better posting your theory on one of them.

A lot of the posters actually understand the system.

How does the op see into the future.

Any chance of tomorrow's lottery numbers?

I suggest you read up on it from official sources before spouting rubbish.

Use one of the three other threads, if there are significant/sustained issues after introduction they can be discussed here.
