Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi

My gutter needs repair, see attached. I think it's just a bracket that is broken, I have the 2 pain parts anyway. I was trying to get a man to fix, quotes I got are 215e, 225 and 215e.

I don't have this sort of money and I presume it's a 20 min job at most for someone who knows what they are doing.

Does anyone know someone in drimnagh dublin area who would do this cheaper and if not, are there any simple steps I can take to repair??

Someone mentioned that any bracket will fit, do I just try and stick back together with a bracket from woodies?

    Thanks so much

I think you've got all you need there on the ground, nothing appears to be broken.

Push one end of the length of gutter on the ground into that corner bracket on the ground and the other end goes into the bracket with the down spout.

Just make sure the rubber seals on the brackets are not dislodged as you push the length of gutter into the brackets. It's an easy diy job and spend the 200 on pints.

It looks like a clip is missing on the corner piece, at the rubber gasket nearest the downpipe in your photo, the clip at the other end of the corner piece looks ok. These clips come in many different sizes. The hard and dangerous bit is working at height on the corner, even for the experts.

I don't think the quoted prices are unreasonable, yes it's probably only a 20 min job, but you have to take into account travel time to get there, he'll need a ladder, money to recoupe the time to previously quote you. And the risk of working at heights.

    Well spotted @spuddy4711 !

Unless it’s around there still intact a new matching corner piece is required. I can’t make out if it’s ogee or square or some other type.

what part of the country are you in. i think i took a blast of the guttering dawn for a customer a few months back. its out the back of his shed . if your stook for a bit PM me with the measurments.

either way the clip is missing or broke. you should have another bracket to support it as well.

Yeah and think folks are forgetting the rise in cost of materials. Had someone do my gutters last week, came recommended and was by far the best quote I got. But he was saying his material costs have gone up over 140% since COVID that its crazy stuff.

I know some folks are taking the piss inflating their labour costs and thats really where you get the savings on trade work.

Cost of tiles for example have gone up over 100% since COVID
