    Ray Bates has died.

    J. Ray Ph.D (Dublin and Kilmore Quay) former Deputy-Director Met Éireann; former Branch Head, Laboratory for Atmospheres, NASA, Goddard, Maryland; Emeritus Professor of Meteorology, University of Copenhagen and Adjunct Professor of Meteorology UCD (2004 to 2023); peacefully in the tender care of Blackrock Hospice on 6 January.
