Anyone got a link to what is actually going on there?

Media blackout with a few days, but the social media is gone mad with false chyte....It's impossible to believe what's true.

Protest due to start Mon morning, but cant see a thing in German Newspapers or even the German Farmers Association website...who are organising the protest.

Saw small bit on twitter. Farmer protest seems to be primarily over changes to rates on ag diesel and a few other things brought in or trying to be brought in after the courts stopped the Germans from exceeding their debt ceiling. Farmers have apparently asked far right protesters to stay away as they don't want to be associated with then. I think there is a Dutch/ American journalist they asked to stay away as she stirs up the anti government types

Don't kid yourself they'll call you far right as well, you'll say you are not, we know you are not but they don't care. It's just a smear tactic.

They see farmers as by default, far right. We have heard the same here at times.

I agree, far right / for left, etc labels are thrown out to quell debate on a lot of things, which prob makes it more important to attempt to stick as much as possible to the topic at hand. Difficult in the social media world as there is plenty throwing enough **** to stick from their basements

Cammy from the Sheep Game has a video on his Facebook page that was live earlier this morning. He interviews a guy who said that as well as the reduction of subsidies on agri diesel they were also protesting about a proposed 5% reduction in arable land use.

There is nothing far right about it. Its just that everyone in Germany who isnt supportive of the government line is being put into that corner these days.

If you dont like what the government is doing to you

    a) the government hasn't explained it well enough to you,

    b) you're a victim of misinformation,

    c) you're a far right or Russia supporter.

AFAIK the two main issues are

    a) Government is planning to do away with agri diesel. Farmers are supposed to pay same as car drivers at the pump. Government is somewhat peddling back on that now as in not immediate change but phased over 4 or 5 years, but that doesn't really change anything. IMO it's a mixture of green policy and the money for arms & Ukraine has to be found somewhere, but like I said thats my personal slant/opinion.

    b) Also government is making unfriendly noises about EU farming subsidies in general. Nothing concrete in the pipeline there atm but it adds to the feel that farmers are being targeted and there will be more to come. However the protests atm are all about a) really.

Farmers are saying this will drive many small and medium farms over the edge and lead to even bigger concentration towards massive farming conglomerates. And ultimately higher prices for everyone.

Government is getting edgy since this protest is the first really tangible large scale protest in a long time. And the farmers are serious about it too. Thousands of tractors are supposed to block all autobahn entries/exits and other main roads around Berlin and across the country.

If the German farmers loose the diesel tax issue, you will see government here trying it on again.

I much prefer to see everything ground to a halt for a few hours than this thing of pumping slurry and dumping dung in cities.. Its just low wage workers who have to clean it up and no impact on polliticians.. Not to mention pollution
