Hi guys, I previously had an 087 number, when I moved job I received a company phone, I paid my bill up to the point where the contract expired but I did not renew it, I am now thinking about reactivating my old number with three mobile, unfortunately I went round in circles trying to confirm if this was possible or not.

    Q. Is it possible to reactivate my old number if i no longer have the old sim card.

    Q. I do have an iPhone which was on the 087 network which I can use.

Thanks in advance for any advise ......

Probably not as the number likely has been reused. Call the number and see if it's in use.

As three are a new supplier they can only port if the account is active so you may need to see what the original supplier can do

It will be very unlikely you can get that number back.

If you were, I'd guess, it will require signing up with Vodafone and asking them is it possible to perform a MSISDN Swap to that number.

I don't believe networks keep any numbers outside of their own given range so I assume they notify the original network that the number if free to take back but I am absolutely not sure.

There's a lot of logistics around why that might not be possible or easily done. Once a MSISDN is made available it is typically associated with a SIM Card (Paired MSISDN, Paired SIM whatever). While some MSISDNs will be unpaired if yours isn't it's not really likely a company will agree to go to the effort needed to let you claim the numer back.
