Entry to Games

Attended the Waterford Tipperary Munster league game last Sunday. There was a decent enough crowd there but i have one bug bear.. how to gain access? Online tickets were allowed straight in. You couldn't gain access by cash and there was one turnstile for card machine.

Surely cash can be made mandatory as well as other forms of entry..

They stopped taking cash after COVID at all inter county games.

It's been a mentioned a lot since about how it inconveniences people.

Not sure it's going to change though.

It won't change as from an admin point of view online and card sales are easier. No having to handle and lodge cash and more to the point no more of lads or lassies on the gate letting in their mates FOC. I get its a pain to some people but I think if it was going to change back it would have by now

if you have cash you have to have someone count it, keep it safe and then eventually take the time to lodge it to an ever decreasing number of banks so possibly miles away, and with the lack of bank staff/ counter services the gaa person would also likely need to have a bank card with access to the county board current account to lodge it to a bank machine.

With card or online only, it goes straight to the county board account with no effort or security risk

I have the feeling though that the following fiasco is a larger reason for the move to move to cashless (a GAA official in galway hoarded months worth of football and hurling, national intercounty allianz league and local cash at his house, and made no effort in recording what cash came from which game)

My issue is with the lack of ticket stubs nowadays particularly for people who like to collect stuff. I have resorted to printing out the Ticketmaster e-tickets. I would say the printable tickets will soon go too. Ticketmaster don't to that with concerts.

Although I do have ticket stubs for the past 2 Ulster finals.
