Wexford away in the cup is a very winnable draw.

    Treaty 1-3 Wexford

    (Lee Lynch)

Treaty's faint playoff hopes taking a battering tonight.

The first half was even enough, and not much happened. Wexford had plenty of the ball, but the best chance was a cut back for a Lee Devitt shot which was brilliantly blocked by a defender. There was a curious incident when the Wexford keeper handling a backpass, with the referee correctly awarding an indirect freekick about 8 yards out (despite LOI TV commentator Tommy Lynch bizarrely insisting it should have been a penalty), but Curran's effort was blocked.

We went ahead early in the second half when Thomas Considine did well to work the ball down the right wing and his cross was poorly dealt with by a Wexford defender and Lee Lynch was on hand to place a shot low to the bottom left corner.

We weren't ahead for long - a Wexford player looked to have held on to the ball for too long in the Treaty box, but the defender's poked takle/clearance fell kindly for another attacker to slam home a shot through a cluster of players, via a slight deflection. Wexford were ahead soon after, when Cory Chambers dropped a header, and the same player who'd headed it reacted fastest (despite being on the ground) to scramble a finish. And it was 3-1 a few minutes later, when a blocked shot was poked home by a Wexford attacker. And the night ended on an even more sour note with Treaty substitute Vrljičak getting a straight red card for an off the ball incident in the sying seconds.

Next game: away to Bray, Friday August 30, 7.45pm.
