Swim A Mile Programme

I'm wondering if anyone has experience of local Swim A Mile programmes.

The idea is to take people who can swim at least 2 lengths to 1 mile in 12 weeks. It says not suitable for those who regularly swim 40 lengths.

I can swim 40 lengths or so at a push but haven't in 6 months. I've had a months off swimming basically.

I'd love to follow a structured swimming programme but I'm wondering if these are more for beginners? Maybe I should try and self pace to swim a mile?

I know I don't need to spend weeks getting from 2 lengths to 20 lengths for example, as I can comfortably swim that.

    Thanks!
