Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Phuket Vaccinations

    Looking for advice on what vaccinations to get for going to Phuket?

    Seeing conflicting advice when googling about it. Everywhere you look gives different recommendations and I don’t want to pay for unnecessary ones.

    Would just be in the touristy areas (apart from day trips to see islands).

    Thinking Hep A and Tetanus should be enough but would appreciate any advice

    Got the Hep A, Tetanus and Typhoid vaccines, but some people don't get any.

    Hep B and Rabies would only be needed if trekking in the wild.

    I agree with this. I'm a pharmacist and travelled to Phuket in July 2023. Myself and my family had the Hep A and thyphoid vaccines, our tetanus was upto date. The jabs aren't cheap but spending time ill or in hospital would be a disaster after spending so much on your holiday. If you want to check yourself use an NHS website: fitfortravel.nhs.uk, a great unbiased source of travel medication information. I'm very jealous, enjoy your trip!

    Hello, thanks for the above. When you said your family did you mean kids too? How can we have the kids vaccinated? Do we need to go to a gp for prescription or can we do it directly with a pharmacy?

    Kids too, mine were aged 13, 16, 18! You must get a prescription, either the pharmacy or the gp can administer the vaccines. The vaccines are expensive but most offer cover for 10 years.

    Is there a rabies vaccination ? I recently got rabies shots and it was a course of 6 shots weekly.
