I’m waiting on a new Castlegarden XDC 150 to be delivered from Monaghan Hire who have said it will be fully ready to go on delivery (not that there is anything to be done this early)

Can anyone advise me on what I should know as a virgin ride on user? Servicing? Fuel? Oil? Maintaining? Cleaning? Battery? Or anything else obvious I should know?

Clean it very well after each use and store it in the DRY.

Biggest tip for any grass cutting is don't cut too short and cut more often. Don't think now you have a ride on you can scalp the grass once a fortnight and have a decent lawn.

Get a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up over the winter. You probably won't need it until next winter. The battery will get ruined if allowed to go flat.

I use a solar one that came from Aldi years ago.

As mentioned above, wash the grass from under the deck after use. It is acidic and causes deck corrosion. This is easier on some models than others.

Get familiar with the safety interlocks and don't disable them. E.g. motor won't start unless you are on the seat. They can be frustrating if you don't understand them.
