I am a substitute primary teacher who just started working in ireland. My first paycheck from the depth of ed took a massive amount of cumulative tax from my three days of work. Out of a net of 440 euros, they took 176 euros of cumulative tax. Will this continue to be the case, or is it a one off situation, or do I need to fo something to rectify this..

40% of gross, that's emergency tax which is common when starting a new job.

I can't help I'm afraid but ask in the taxation forum here

Does it actually say cumulative on the payslip? Are there any tax credits on your payslip?

If you weren't working, you should have some tax credits built up. Sounds more like emergency tax to me.
