Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Replacing damaged engineered T&G flooring

    Hi,

I had a guy lay engineered T&G flooring in throughout my house last year, I dropped something and now one of the boards is ruined. I'm pretty handy and I know how to replace a damaged board from watching youtube guides but my worry is that this guy glued the boards to each other. Which none of the videos seems to have.

If they weren't glued I wouldn't hesitate in doing this but I am worried about how strong wood glue is. If I chop out the whole centre of the board and use a chisel to try and separate the joint do you guys think it will come apart ok or will it start ripping the tongue's out of the adjacent boards?

Edit- I'm not going to jam a chisel in between the boards I just mean use a chisel on the damaged board to hit it sideways to separate the boards.

I am hoping I am overestimating how strong wood glue is

    Thanks

Depending on the glue used, it can be as strong as the wood itself.

Can you post up a picture of the damage and the surrounding area?

I can't post picture ATM but I know he used Bona wood glue which he said is very good.

The board is at the side of a room beside the skirting board so I could hit it sideways to break the glue joint which might be easier on the tongue than hitting it outwards regards breaking it off

I will post pic when I can

You can get a repair kit for flooring, like a paste.

How bad is the damage. Some wood can be repaired with sanding, a damp cloth an iron and sand and finish.
