Car failed nct on bushes on the wishbones. The wishbone is steel. Can the bushes be replaced on the steel ones. Brought car to a mechanic and he told me that i need to buy the wishbones too as the bushes can only be replaced on the aluminium ones??? Is this true??? Obviously buyin new steel wishbones are gonna be more expensive if indeed thats what i have to do??

I had the same issue with a Passat. Bought two new wishbones from a motor factors for €80 each trade price.
