I see it regularly for Galway, it's meaningless. When a thunderstorm does arrive it's often not there.

Conditions are developing for thunderstorms to develop in central and eastern counties 0200-0500 with a brief interval of strong wind gusts as a meso-scale low forms after midnight and tracks across Dublin around 0300-0400. Confidence moderate, it could flare up quickly, over east Galway to n Tipps.

A lot of convection embedded in the front moving close to Ireland, AROME and ECM showing thunderstorm potential mainly in the SW, W later tonight / early morning. Tongue of warm moist air moving towards Ireland with a lot of shear available later close the coasts and overland. Perhaps some forcing ahead of the front. Hail is even showing up on the prediction charts but it would take some convection to make that happen tonight.

Staying mild into the early morning up to 17C with a DP of 16C.

Will see if we get something.

Just below recent Satellite pic from EUMETSAT showing areas of convection and cloud top temperatures.

Conditions don't look conducive for thunderstorms overnight
