Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sealing advice for 06 wooden windows and doors

Our house was finished in 2015 after having the windows and doors in since 06 - it was a ghost estate. The windows/ doors are double glazing and wooden.

There are some air gaps which you can feel depending on what way the wind is blowing. If you open some of the windows you can see cobwebs in the frames - signs of air getting in I believe.

It's a big issue as we have a heat pump and the house is not air tight, so we have massive electric bills.

A window company were out and they said nothing could be done with timber frame windows/doors in terms of adjustment. Do ye agree?

Replacing them is not an option. Does anyone have experience with fitting some kind of seals with wooden? Any advice is appreciated!

Even in 2006 , wooden manufactured windows and doors would have adjustable ironmongery. Unless frames are twisted it should adjust. Check seals for damage/cracks/missing, replace were applicable.

It might be tedious task to get it right and windows company might not be interested in repairs, rather replace.

Not sure which part of H&G is the most appropriate place to stick this so I'll just close this for now.
