Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not a great example to use, as his hospital stay is now extended to Thursday at the earliest.

I know MDH doesn't actually run anything, but he does have constitutional roles that require a keen mind and plenty of energy.

I think the Catholic Church has it right, with the exception of the Papacy itself. Clerics must retire at 75 and no Cardinal over age 80 may vote in a papal election, for fear of cognitive impairment.

In the American context, and the Irish, and really anywhere, I don't think any person over age 70 should be able to run for office, or if they hit 70 while in office, be required to retire at the next occurring election.

I'm not being ageist just because of Biden and Trump, but people like Pelosi and McConnell declined to various extents at the end. And holding office, whether at government level or just as a parliamentarian, requires long hours, hefty workloads and resilience to a thousand different challenges.

Surely voters everywhere deserve people of vitality working of their behalf?

Tongue in cheek, that's plenty time for Leo to become our benevolent dictator for life. That plan did not work out well for Julius Caesar in the end. All politics ends in failure. Leo was 38 when he first assumed the office, plenty time for a few more terms.

Here are the ages of some more leaders when they first became taoiseach.

    John Bruton - 47

    Bertie Ahern - 45

    Brian Cowen - 48

    Charles Haughey - 54

    Enda Kenny - 59

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

Culture of stupidity in America is the problem there, not age.
