    Hi,
I'm waiting for an interview invitation for the Dublin region, and I haven't received one yet.

oh god I hope not, I scored the minimum requirement in the skill area I want. So hoping it’s based on the interview alone.

I had an interview yesterday and I have to say it was ok tbh. There were no curve ball questions or anything. I definitely could have answered better on two questions, but I live in hope I will be selected.

I have another interview next week for another skill area so definitely feeling more confident going into that one after yesterday.

Congratulations, Bella! I'm hopeful for your selection. Best of luck ☘️ with your upcoming second interview next week. I haven't received any notification about my interview date yet (Dublin region), so I'm curious about the time between the interview invitation and the scheduled date. Thank you.

that’s great news Bella, congrats! good luck on your second interview also! ❤️ if you don’t mind me asking, were your interview questions more related to your academic studies like the shortlisting process was, or just your general skills/work experience? I’m hoping the questions I get are open/situational enough to answer with reference either of the two

Hi! Have you received an invitation for the Dublin region yet? I haven't gotten mine. It seems like they might not be sending them out at the same time for each region, so I'm not too worried. I'm just concerned that if they're sending them via post, it might have gotten lost…

Hi, I have not received anything from Dublin yet either. That's good to know we're in the same boat. I'm only a little concerned about how potentially last minute the interview may be if all of them are indeed happening in May 😬 I'll keep you posted, it would be great to know if/when you receive an invite too!

Thanks for getting back to me. As soon as I get an invitation I'll let You know. Have a nice weekend :)

Hi, no the interview questions were scenario based so “tell me about a time” “give me and example of” they weren’t too difficult, but just go through the competencies and have a scenario for each and you’ll be ok.

I got notifications of my interview abut a week before they happened. But the format was the same for both.

Just a quick update: Today I received an email invitation for an interview for one of the skill areas, but I'm still waiting to get the invitation for the other one (both in the Dublin region).

i was wondering if shortlisting marks would help in securing a good spot in shortlisting after the interview.I scored 11 for dublin region and 6 was cut off for my stream??

hello, wee update, i got a letter from border & western region today saying i've been placed on the panel for selection when a post comes up in the region. folks who've had their interviews already, be on the lookout! (that notice was dated approx. 1 week after my interview was)

does anybody know details about how long this process takes on average (getting selected from the panel i mean)? i thought positions wouldn't start til august/september so i'm a bit surprised to hear this good news so soon, i still have another interview for a different region, so i'm hoping to not receive any time-sensitive offers before i know how the second one went. though i feel like i've heard that regions which aren't dublin move much slower in terms of positions opening up.

finally, i'm 99% sure this is the case, but am i correct in assuming that you must accept the position offered, and if you turn it down, you will be removed from the panel? or do you remain on it for future opportunities?

    good luck to all!

Amazing news, Lavidaes!! Congratulations! I had my first interview on the 1st of May and haven't heard back from any of them.. So hopefully this is a good sign that decisions are being made and spots are being allocated! Best of luck with your second interview!!

Smaller councils might have one or two position(s) in the skill sets the council needs. We had 2 in climate action and one each in business, innovation & change management, programme management and HR.

The councils in Dublin followed by Cork have good amount of positions but the number of applicants are also high.

The time taken for placement depends on the HR section of individual councils. In my case, they took almost 2 months (Dublin councils were quicker by may be by two weeks), this is because some candidates reject the offer for whatever reasons and request to be moved to another council. If feasible, their requests are accepted but 90% of the time, they do not give you an option.

If you are placed in top 5, there is a good chance that you will end up as a graduate in a council not necessarily of your choice except in Dublin councils where there are atleast 3 to 4 vacancies in each skill set. The lower you are on the panel, the lesser the prospects.

The panel lasts for 1 year and if one graduate drops out within a few months, the next on the panel will be given an offer.

If you get an offer before your next interview which is very rare, but the choice is yours.

Also, do not lose hope if you end up lower on the panel. A lot of applicants reject the offer. This is because the recruitment process is slow due to the scale and many get sorted elsewhere. Some applicants also reject the offer because they do not get to go in the council they prefer. In my council, I had joined in July 2021 and one of the graduates joined in January 2022 as the graduate originally selected for the role resigned for personal reasons.

Lavidaes, congratulations and good luck with the Dublin interview!☘️

Kuiper81, thank you very much for the information😊

It seems like not all interviews are progressing at the same pace, so try to stay positive... although it's tough when you want something and the process takes time. I hope you'll hear some positive news soon for both.

Hi, I got a letter on Friday to inform me I have been placed on the panel at 15 on the order of merit for Economic Enterprise and Business Development stream in the Midlands and Eastern region. Anyone have any idea if 15 is high enough to consider it likely to get a position in August/September or should I continue looking for other jobs?

hello, I have my interview for the community development and climate action streams for Dublin region this Thursday. Does anyone have any advice for the interview? Will they ask about specialist knowledge regarding the streams?

I got a letter on post saying I'm placed at number 2 on the panel for Wicklow cc. What are the odds that I'll get an offer

  • Registered Users Posts: 19 bella1307

Hi Jason, I am on the same panel and in my letter it said that they would be in touch around the 28th of the month. So you should have a fairly good idea by then, but it's impossible to know what the 14 people ahead of you will do or where they could be allocated. I would keep looking. Never hedge your bets on getting one particular job. Keep applying and interviewing for plenty of positions, and then make a decision if you're offered a position.

    Best of luck! :)

Have 1-2 examples for each of the competencies and they may ask what you will bring to the role or what skills you have that will transfer into the role. Bar the competencies the other questions are standard interview questions.

Best of luck with your interview today, I hope it goes well for you!!
