Importing classic car from NI

Hi All

I'm looking into buying a 30+ year old car from Northern Ireland

Just wondering what documentation I need to register it in the ROI

What kind of taxes would I be liable for

It was imported from UK to NI in 2005 ( if that makes a difference)

Customs duty @10% not charged if in north pre January 2021

You don't get charged customs on importing a >30 Year old from the UK. So no benefit to classic from the north.....?

I was reading as no customs i.e no 10% duty.

So it's no vat too? I'll have to readjust my auto trader search :)

No vat or duty on cars registered in The North before Brexit

@OP you will need the V5. Get the seller to write you a receipt and date it, stating their name and address, and the price you paid. Go to https://www.ncts.ie/vrt-home/ and book in a slot for inspection. You will need to have a VRTVPD2 filled in, a recent bill. Drivers license and an official document with your PPS number.
