Most of Dublin city centre is very safe with the usual social problems you'd expect anywhere.
From walking through that area frequently, it seems very multicultural with a bit of a buzz/energy about the place with lots of options for eating out.

Good area and within walking distance to Drumcondra, Phibsboro, city centre.
