My friend foolishly bought one and 18 months later went to trade it in at main dealers and he losing a massive 86k and its was in 6 times during that time with faults....on the trade in they didn't really even want it.

These electric cars are to be disposable just like a mobile phone so it's a huge scam to make money for these guys while shafting the motorists. Like who would buy these crap electric cars when out of warranty, sure they put your lights out

Mercedes , he was offered just over 30k on a trade in and they didn't even want it.

My point is that they are disposable really and once warranty is near up people wont want them, like they cost a fortune to fix and if batteries go your fuked, I'm glad motorists are wishing up to the scam of these crap cars, saving the environment my ass

Personally I think Mercedes should have been more cautious with the release of the EQE. I don't think that the market was there for that level of a vehicle and the nonsense of the reliability issues put many potential buyers off it.

I liked the idea till I found out it's all just bull, if I buy one of these electric cars out of warranty and batteries give up, then is it worth fixing , can you afford to fix them, all ok till things go wrong big time, I see alot more issues with these too once they get the miles up..…I see ones who have electric cars going back to diesel. Let's face it guys less hassle and easier and worth fixing.

I had a A4 Audi tdi and had it 15 months, sold it there and really lost nothing on it...

If that was electric car but a different story

Regarding EV depreciation, we had the combined effects of COVID, container shortages, chip shortages and grant cutting all at the same time. Depreciation isn't high, it's purchasing prices that went through the roof. Anyone with half a brain would have stayed away from dealers, but some people like their shiny new car every year.

Do you think the dealer does not want to make a profit?

Do you think 32k is enough to allow for both points?

Honestly when I see them selling for that price, I was very interested, long range nice marque, luckily for me I just bought a car and blew half of the money of an 2023 eqe on it just so I can drive it for a year and sell it for 3 or 4 thousand more next year.

But seeing what the posters friend was offered made perfect sense to me, it would drop in value faster than I could sell it for, what was worrying was the 6 times in the garage, maybe its just a lemon.

It's good to churn the market as far as car manufacturers, dealers and governments are concerned. Vehicles are big ticket items, money spent in the economy, taxes raised and so on. Just we have Green Tech now instead of Diesel Tech instead of Petrol Tech. Give it a while and there'll be some new wheeze Hydrogen Tech etc etc

Nope. They're all going up in value. It's only EV's that are depreciating.

I know a fellow who bought a 2016 Audi diesel. It was doing 70 mpg. Never needed a service or tyres. He paid 3 grand for it and sold it last week for 60 grand. That's 100% true...he told me himself. He also told me EV's are a scam. They cost €100 to top up and the battery needs replacing at 10 thousand Kms. The battery costs 20 grand. Completely true. He read it in the newspaper.

Good value at that compared to an e-class diesel, seriously comfortable cruiser. Last 4000km have cost me €212 on 24hr rate. It's enough to swing you from a Taycan😁
