I'm due to have a MRI on my knee in the next couple of days and I'm wondering if my entire body will be in the machine or just the lower half?

When I had an MRI on my knee, from around my elbows up was out of the machine.

think I was half in half out gave me ear defenders for the noise. I'm 5' 10.

the torso one I had was worse " don't move for 45 mins"

Thanks for that, I had one for lower back before so was fully in the machine. I had to take a sedative beforehand as I am very claustrophobic and I'm wondering if I'll need one this time.

I've has a couple of knee MRIs, both times my upper body was not in the machine at all, so went in 'legs first' with my head etc sticking out the front side.

I've also had them on my hip, but in that case I went in head first.

Yes, it is quite ok when it's just your legs sticking inside, it was a lot more daunting when I went in head first for the hip scan!

When I had lower back scan I went in feet first but went fully into the machine. There is no way I would go in head first, sedative or no sedative.

I'd ring them and ask.. better to make sure and set your mind at ease.

I had one recently, and found out at the last moment that I'd have to go much further in than the internet had led me to assume, and it really freaked me out.
