Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Windows Media Player corrupted

Lenovo V15 laptop. Running Windows 10.

I was transferring some old CDs to my laptop via an external CD/ DVD drive. All was fine.

I disconnected the external CD/ DVD Drive from the laptop. Then suddenly, I noticed my entire Windows Media Player music library had been completely wiped out. All content erased.

I ran a troubleshooting tool in Control Panel on Windows Media Player which said in results that Media Library is corrupted.

Can this be fixed or at least my music content retrieved?

    Thank you.

    Bit more detail please:
    What was the operation/action - copy-paste, other?
Can you see files copied on your computer? Destination folder ?
Do you still have your media on external drive ? Did you attempted to reconnect external drive?
Do you use OneDrive(other cloud storage solution) on your laptop?

    Hi,

Just to edit a typo on my OP - I used an external CD / DVD Drive, not an external HDD, ripping files from CDs to my laptop via Windows Media Player. This was done successfully with no issues.

Just to mention also, when finishing ripping the music files from the CD, I did not 'safely remove hardware' when removing the CD drive from the laptop.

I dont use cloud storage on my laptop, àt least not for storing music files.

I can only see a previously created desktop folder with mp3 files on my desktop. All my other media library items (ripped CDs) are all gone. 😭

"safely remove" unlikely have effect in this case, it apply to USB/mem card in case where data is still in write/read progress as its loaded to buffer(slow drives)

the 'music' folder is empty in your profile? that seems to be the default location for ripping music in WMP. though you may have specified a different location?

maybe download something like treesize to see if it's still anywhere on the disk?
