Can someone please tell me if fixing this sewerage control box is within regulation? Can it be fixed a to a tree?

The box controls the liquid levels and turns on an internal submersible pump. This is the way that the contractor has installed the system.

I strongly advise against, and do not endorse, the practice of mounting electrical panels to trees. Such an action cannot be considered standard practice and carries inherent risks. While there may not be explicit prohibitions stating "It is not permitted to mount electrical panels to trees" in regulations, the National Rules for Electrical Installations IS10101 does offer relevant clauses.

Consider section 515.1, which stipulates that "Equipment shall be so selected and erected as to avoid any harmful influence between the electrical installation and any non-electrical installations." Trees fall under the category of "non-electrical installations" and attaching a panel to a tree can lead to deformation of the panel enclosure over time as the tree grows, constituting a "harmful influence."

Additionally, section 515.1 outlines requirements for 'combustible mounting surfaces' that must be followed, further reinforcing the importance of proper mounting practices."

Robust response there to what is a mess. 👍️ Be interesting to see their proposed solution.

So, in X years time, when the panel is long removed and the tree is dead, some tree surgeon is going to get a 'very nice surprise' when his chainsaw meets the remains of the mounting bolts or other metal parts.
