Painting roof tiles - Aye or nay?

I'm getting the front of the house done up, but the roof tiles really take away from the look as, even when cleaned, they look old and stained. There seem to be a lot of tradesmen offering to spray paint the tile, I assume once you start doing this you need to repeat it each year? Apart from that, any reason not to paint…
