This is a super website that allows you to upload your ESBN supplied smart meter (HDF) data file and get an analysis of your own time of use patterns including PV export.

It also gives the full breakdown of the supplier offers based on your actual prior usage / export etc. Really good tool.

No data is retained and you don't even register your name or e-mail etc. Fair dues to Radec Toma - who built the tool.

Yeah, fair play. Used it last week after I got a smart meter a few weeks ago. It confirmed the EV plan I was looking at was the best one. It's simples to use. Love it!

It is an amazing useful resource. I got a bit confused how to compare the results to 24 tariffs though.

It is excellent. Anyone know how often each pays FIT?

    BG pays (6months?)

    Energia?

    SSE?

Not much difference in the 3 for me, but id rather see FIT on the regular…

What a fantastic site. Love that you can easily compare all the different options for price atnd time of use, and not just purely on price per kw.

Great site as it tells me daily consumption of units in and exported which the ESB site doesnt tell you, it just shows a graph of when electricity was used but not how much over the course of a day or week.

Quick question- on the middle column in the spreadsheet it says 'Total Annual' and the rest is parsed- anyone know what it is, zooming out for me doesnt reveal the third word.

It's total annual cost. You can drag the column width in/out same as excel btw.

Not working for me either at the minute

The download is working for me. It looks like they have updated the download options. You can get units used (actual readings), average kW or kWh.

This is very good to have and takes the guessing out of the calculations. Hopefully they will combine these all into a single download file in future. No need for separate files I think.

Still doesn't have the Cooline community offer from Pinergy, which has a better rate and also a €100 welcome bonus. Making it by far the best plan available in Ireland for anyone who only needs about 3 hours of night rate.

This offer has been available for nearly a year now. I have used the webform to inform the owner of EnergyPal about this many months ago, but they have not done anything with it unfortunately

It is likely that people have missed out on significant savings because of this

Here is the plan, hopefully the owner reads here and will incorporate it into the EnergyPal site

saying it was updated on 7th April . rates look right, but missing the €100 bonus . (its not shown on the tariffs page so maybe that's how it was missed .

using this now but have a question

on the HDF file imported from ESB networks I can see "active export interval (kw)" and "active import interval (kw)" but this does not tell me how much I consumed in the house over any period of time as my import will be net of any solar or battery capacity the house draws on - is this correct or am I misunderstanding the report?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭pad406

You're 100% correct. The ESB readings are only what comes in and out of the house. It has no idea on self consumption.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 236 ✭✭OO7FITZY

so for consumption do I have track and add up the usage from each electricity bill or can I pull it from somewhere?

surly the smart meter has that saved?

Smart meter will tell you only what came in and out of the house. So any charging of the battery over night will be included, but it will have no idea if you used all or some of the battery, nor how much of the solar was consumed in the house rather than being exported.

Inverters normally have an app or website where you can see that. For example my Solis shows me information and a graph like this:

There are also reports you can pull out of it, but I've linked up to their API and import into a database where I can do my own.
