PRC is 78% of normal. Third week average was 63% (wet inland west, very dry in east).

SUN is 88% of normal. Third week average was 106%, a little above average at all locations but Cork (89%).

max daily rainfall is 33.3 mm. (Knock still not reporting a total for yesterday, radar indicates Claremorris and Mtdillon likely wetter, during absent reports, so not expecting a contender, looks wetter after 0100, but probably no more than 10 mm.)

Tonight a new min is likely. Also IMT looks set to dip for rest of month. Max likely reached now. Knock didn't beat those locations as was tracking it that day and Claremorris n Mt Dillon were WAY higher than anywhere.

Update is on hold for now, as Summary not out on website today. I guess monday was a holiday so possibly we'll see it on Wednesday at usual time of about 1100-1130. It was only SUN that I thought could require a bit of an edit. But I also need to verify various other tracked data.

Adjusted Scoring for May 2024

On review, a few rather minor changes were required. First of all, on 5 May, a MIN of 2.6 C was reported (we did not spot it). It will only affect scoring slightly in that it creates a hammer situation that 2.8 C did not produce. Also PRC was 84% and not 81%, it will give all forecasters an extra point. SUN was only around 78 per cent, this will take away the point given by PRC and leave totals similar (except for any revisions of MIN, generally lower due to applying hammer, Artane2002 sees a net four-point reward against closest scores in both month and annual contests, for the application of the hammer).

So we now have our scoring finalized and Artane2002 has gained a slight lead over Skinner as a result, but top portion of the scoring table is still quite a close contest.

Four Seasons Contest Update _ Spring 2024 Points

We will go with a slightly different format this year, seasonal winners will get 12 points, second to tenth will get 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 points, 11-20 will also get 2 points as will any forecaster with a total score of 150+ ... and all who participate (2/3 or 3/3) will get one point if not otherwise qualified. Con Sensus and NormaL will receive points but those will not affect contest points.
