I've a house that has a shallow well pump which needs to be looked at. Before I get anyone in, I want to understand what pipes go where. In the below photo, the bottom pipe si believe supplies the house, the middle pipe comes from the well, but the top pipe confuses me. I understand it is the discharge from the pump and links to the lower pipe to supply the house and pressure tank, but that pipe also goes in to the top of the well in the right, which is what I dont understand. Can anyone enlighten me?

There's probably a jet body down in the well. That needs 2 pipes to function.
