How to properly oil hinges like these?

Ive tried spraying in some silicon lube from the top, not sure its doing much, am i missing something?

What's the justification, can I ask? Are they noisy or stiff?

I used WD-40 on mine with the little straw nossel and it worked fine.

Around the top of the barrel and let it seep down into the mechanism. It's messy without the little straw attachment.

Be careful with this.

My missus sprayed wd40 on the hinge of one of our doors and the door moved like a rocket afterwards. Any light touch and it would swing open fast, like there was no resistance at all!

That's what I was kinda thinking as some are soft-close hinges and work off resistance. If you oil them up then the resistance lessens and the door can slam. Most of those take a tacky or high viscosity grade lubricant which is installed at the point of assembly.

I would use silicon or ptfe spray rather than wd40. Wd40 doesn't last long and will actually remove any existing thicker grease that is there

If they have worn or if there is any play in the hinges you could try lifting the door (pop a wedge under it) when you apply your lubricant of choice (please don't use WD40). That way you might create some gaps for the lubricant to get into.

Something like 3 in One oil is best as it penetrates into the joints unlike some of the thick lubricants which just sticks to the surface.
