    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone would have any advice, I want to extend a patio slabs in the back garden of a new build house, they are 600x400 slabs. I was under the impression I'd need hardcore, compact it and then a cement bed for the new slabs.

I took one up to bring it to match to the new ones and noticed they aren't on a bed of concrete. Would anyone know what's the substance under them and is it substantial if the slabs are just for walking on or should they be on a bed of sand and cement?

Any advice for laying new ones for joining into the existing patio/concrete path around the edge?

    Thanks in advance.
