    Hi, what works best,, a HWC with 2 immersions(top and bottom) or one 36" immersion ?

    Also, do all cylinders have a hole at top and bottom for 2 immersions ?

    Both will do the job. Two separate immersions would probably be the preferred as you have two completely separate elements, so backup when one fails.

    No - cylinders vary, you will need to check the specs and get one with immersion options to suit.

    You can get a top mounted dual element immersion to use with cylinders with just one hole right on the top of the cylinder, the top, shorter, "sink" element will heat ~ 30/40L and the longer "bath" element will heat almost the full cylinder, problem is that if you have used the sink element to heat 30L and require a full cylinder of HW then no further heating will happen until you drain off most of that 30L of HW as the there is only one cylinder stat and that is the same length as the short element, also, even if using the longer bath element continuously no reheating will happen until almost the full vol of HW is used.

    The two separate elements which have their own thermostats is a far better option IMO but you would have to buy the proper cylinder.
