Galway's annual Rapidplay tournament will take place on Saturday 15 June, in the Galway Bridge Centre. Full information is on our webpage, but in brief there are seven rounds, at 15 minutes plus a ten second increment. Start time is 11 a.m. (sharp) and we expect to finish before 7. Enter by emailing your name to us at galwaychess[at]gmail[dot]com before midday on Friday 14 June, and then paying the entry fee of €15 on arrival between 10.15 and 10.45. There are significant cash prizes (€200 first prize) - see the webpage for the complete list. The advertized prize fund is €600, but we increase that if we get a large number of entries, and each of the last two years we gave away €850 in prizes. However, the downside of the huge post-covid interest in chess is that we will have to stop taking new entries once we reach the venue's capacity; last year we had to do that three weeks before the event, so do get your entry in soon to avoid disappointment this year.
