Have a 24ins sewer cover in the back garden, the sewer runs through the back gardens and into the sewer system. The frame of the cover is rusted badly, is it my problem to replace or the council (Dublin 15) ?

If it's the public sewer then as I understand it. it's Uisce Éireann's property and the job of replacing the frame isn't an easy one as it's embedded into concrete. But yeah, start the conversation off with Uisce Éireann. I'd suspect that they won't touch it unless it's structurally unsafe.

Is it just the sewer from your house that the manhole is covering?

    If so it's your job.

The sewer goes from the back gardens servicing 6 houses.

I have the same problem. Think it's up to you to replace it. I searched for ages trying to find a lid that would fit. Gave up eventually. Apparently the companies making them come & go & the sizes change so have to cut out the original to out the new 1 in.

The new cover is slightly bigger so for now it's sitting on top of the original. it's pretty heavy so doesn't move so it'll do for now.
