Pity, would have liked to see Murray win a few matches 🙂

Count down on for Nadal vs Zverev. Hopefully it will be a good one.

Wawrinka/Murray was a good match last night. Murray even though he will be disappointed to lose will be happy to get in lots of practice on the grass.

Really hope Nadal does not lose in straight sets!

If Zverev takes this second set then I can't see a way back for Nadal.

Zverev took it on a tight tiebreak, I would say he is gone alright.

Nadal getting into the net a lot. He should give doubles a go.

    Nadal gone.

Norrie looked in trouble but taken third set against kotov so up 2-1

Caught the last few games of the match, looked like a cracker.

Norrie back in trouble again 1-4 in the 4th set.

Good match, Zverev played outstanding, anyone would have been pushed to beat him today - Rafa not disgraced by any means, just outplayed! Said he still hopes to be back in Roland Garros for the Olympics

Eurosport just showed Djokovic warming up on a practice court and it looked like he had a problem with his wrist. He had a trainer on rubbing it and then looked to be stretching it himself. No comment from Annabel Croft who was commenting at the time. Wonder if he has a little niggle?

Part of Djokovic's warm up would have to include practicing for the inevitable medical timeouts. He probably also practices long toilet breaks and complaining about some imaginary spectator.

Cracking match on between Etcheverry and some French young fella I've never heard of - only tuned in a few games ago but the crowd are more like a football match than tennis!

Djokovic avoids the old man trapdoor that Nadal and Murray fell through. However he's only the 4th oldest in R64 behind Monfils, Gasquet and Wawrinka.

Great match between Osaka and Swiatek. Best i have seen Osaka play since she came back. Good to see Swiatek getting challenged.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,636 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Swiatek in trouble 3-0 down in the third.

    Osaka completely dominating

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,636 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Such a shame there are so many empty seats in the Stadium with this match.

5-4 now. Swiatek given a life line.

Happy to see Swiatek prevail in that match.

Some turn around by Swiatek there.

Amazing grit from Swiatek to get that win , Osaka was playing brilliant and she'd played dreadfully for large parts of the match yet somehow she scraped through.Probably good that she got such a scare as it'll really sharpen her up going forward.

John McEnroe is utterly painful to listen to these days, he just never stops talking during matches, he seems to be getting worse as the years go by.Really wish they'd give you the option to turn off the commentators and just hear the natural sounds of the game and crowd rather than having to mute the TV

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,907 ✭✭✭✭josip

Reminds me of some people who used to watch a live GAA match muted so that they didn't have to listen to Marty Morrissey, but would have the radio on and be listening to Mícheál commentating instead. Maybe you can try, https://www.radio.net/s/rolandgarros

    This x 100!!

I would listen to Annabel Croft all day long (is she BBC or Eurosport or Sky?? I've lost track!) but actually will turn off matches that McEnroe is commentating on.

Is Arnaldi beating Rublev the first upset of the tournament?

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,256 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Feckin' McEnroe commentating on the Alcaraz/Korda match 🙄

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,256 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Alcaraz beginning to enjoy himself.... he really is a joy to watch!

I feel a bit sorry for Korda, who really isn't playing badly, but just can't get a grip on the game at all.

Griekspoor up a double break against Zverev in the final set and blows it 😡
