Continuing to attack the victim. Now Enoch, would you agree the Manson tweet you shared last night wasn't real? On top of that a jury views her as far more credible than Trump on the rape. So you can attack all you want but you're attacking a victim of rape because you like the rapist.

Trump apologist knows more about the details of what happened than an empanelled jury who listened to witness testimony and video depositions over the course of weeks, along with two experienced judges.

Oh - and accusing someone of TDS is shorthand for "I'm in a cult and won't listen to facts or logic"

What kind of dystopian hellhole are we living in, where this kind of utter and abject b0llox is listened to and doesn't immediately disqualify someone from any position of power, however small.

Honestly, it is like the insane ramblings of a drunkard, some sort of addict or someone who has suffered multiple blows to the head.

The words mild stroke have been playing around in my mind since he began losing his way while speaking, going into repetitive word-use.

Whereas many parents have legitimate concerns about their kids being shot and killed when attending school. After all, far more kids are shot, killed, maimed or injured than are given gender reassignment surgery without their parents consent…

But y'know, as JD Vance says, "school shootings are a fact of life". (Unlike surprise gender reassignment surgery of course...)

While I won’t speculate it’s clear something is up- he has lost the ability to land punches disgusting and juvenile as they were.

It’s actually kind of weird they’re so obsessed with this nightmare fantasy Jimmy comes home with gender identity concerns vs. the reality the Jimmy won’t come home because they’ve had their brains blown out by another AR-15

The event at his campaign rally might, just might, have given Trump pause for thought about federal gun law. Under his administration in 2017, a change to federal law was brought in banning bump-stocks. SCOTUS overturned that rule in June this year. Bump stocks enable users to change SLR's like the AR15 to fully auto rifles, no longer single shot but continuous fire [as in machine-gun fire bursts]. There are videos available online on how to machine-tool bump stocks for AR15's. That is how things have "advanced" for civilians owning or accessing AR15's in the US. The only difference is that AR15's are magazine-fed with a slower rate of fire to belt-fed weapons.

My old man lived to 83. His last few years were marked by noticeable decline in processing anything new; everything from change in government to different layout in the supermarket used to aggravate him. He'd rely on anecdotes we'd heard hundreds of times before and only liked company he was familiar with.

If Trump gets in, he'll be dead before his term ends.

If he gets in, his GOP appointees and V/P will have no problem with doing his bidding, including the vendetta he has against anyone who badmouthed him, donated to the campaigns of his opponents, try to lock up without trial anyone they name to him as an enemy of his MAGA campaign while he's in office. All he needs to do is keep within the parameters laid down by SCOTUS where it come to Presidential Actions being Official Actions and his team to check the documents he's to sign as well to dodge slip-ups.

What could screw up things for him is his own mouth, his personal read on things as against the AG's advice or some team member who gets him to sign the wrong document. Getting SCOTUS to link his pre-election statements with his post-election actions is a long shot at best. He could sink that by pushing the GOP to run a referendum on the number of Presidential office terms he could have set out in the constitution with his "jokey" dictator from January statement.

In whatever time from a possible start in office to a departure before 4 years in office, he would do irreparable damage to the US at home and abroad to mould it after his own image.

They will not be doing his bidding, he will lose interest in anything other than bombast, rallies and signing things with an audience. Otherwise he will be golfing and watching tv. He will think he is in charge, but he will be managed and things will happen round him. He does not have the energy to do more than get rid of his court cases.

It wasn't a federal "law", it was a judgement by the ATF. That is why it was able to be overturned.

With Musk and the crypto bros funding his campaign, I'm not surprised that this is his position.

Marijuana in the US is in such a strange place. In some states, it's legal, except federally it's not.

So much for states making their own minds up on matters.

    So that's liberal drug policy.

Free IVF for anyone that needs it.

    Free childcare for everyone.

And Harris is the socialist leftie?

I have a feeling this book is going to impact some it not many swing voters towards the republican side:

soft focus interviews with “compassionate” interviewers- some publicity but not too much - if whoever is looking to get off the fence, this book may encourage them to head towards MAGA. The fact they’re even on the fence shows just how gullible they really are- if the election polls are as close as most people say they are, it’s this sort of nonsense I’m afraid that we’re down to, in order to decide the next POTUS.

I mean in some respects its genius - whatever positive vibes people might get from the upcoming debate where Harris is anticipated to perform well, will be quickly overshadowed by this piece of ahem, literature.

Melania doesn’t have to pretend she’s the dutiful wife- we know for a fact she’s not- but this book will more than make up for her lack of appearances throughout the campaign .

For Harris, I’m wondering if thanking or positively calling out the Republicans who have spoken out against Trump is the best response - it will be interesting if she addresses this at the debate . But the timing of this book publication is not to be underestimated - people will have a whole month to read it before election day - that’s recency effect in action

I'm not sure the fake wife who writes fake speeches will convince anyone that she wrote this book, or gives two sh1ts about anyone but herself.

    "I don't care. Do you?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,814 ✭✭✭Oscar_Madison

To the general population of the US and in particular Democrats, or commentators across the world- probably not. But to swing voters and current fence sitters? Absolutely it will . And that’s apparently the group of people who will decide the next POTUS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,705 ✭✭✭roosterman71

Someone in his campaign team got hold of his password. No way he wrote that himself. He wouldn't know what "Amendment 3" or "Schedule 3" is for starters. AND NO CAPS LOCK

"But to swing voters and current fence sitters? Absolutely it will".

That's sounds like a statement of fact. What is that confidence based on exactly?

Apparently her book is with Skyhorse Publishing which is known for publishing titles from writers who would normally get dropped by other publishers.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyhorse_Publishing

I'm guessing the impact of this will depend a lot on how much distribution it gets. Skyhorse partner with Simon & Schuster which gives them potentially a lot of reach. However if this is marketed as a fluff-piece for Trump, I kind of expect this to only sell in MAGAworld. A "tell-all" book following their eventual divorce (or his death) would be a worldwide best seller, but my guess is that this one won't be.

Also, I'm wondering who actually wrote this. I'm being increadibly unfair here, but I don't feel like the creator of "Be Best" is that talented a word-smith. Also since Donnie has form of using ghost-writers, it would seem very likely that she'd do the same.

I agree, quite clearly not him and without doubt, he will contradict it in the days ahead if there is a sniff of negativity towards it.

This is an opinion based discussion forum - I thought that was obvious. It’s clear that’s my opinion . Fence sitters and swing voters by their very definition are open to suggestions actions and statements that may not necessarily be significant to ordinary voters - it’s no coincidence that this book is being launched 1 month before the election- none whatsoever -you’ve dismissed it with the same vigour as I’ve considered it will be important - I didn’t ask you for “proof” - I took that as your opinion and engaged accordingly .

As a sceptic I’d totally agree - I see this purely as a “soft-focus” campaign stunt on behalf of the Trump campaign - it will be littered with proTrump propaganda - but that’s not how it will be marketed i reckon - it will be “an honest” account of a “loving wife’s” life to date and how she feels her darling husband is the antidote to all of the US ills.

I predict it will be heavily marketed on day time TV shows- likely the very shows watched by many fence sitters and erm, swingers🤪

I’m not sure it will only sell in Maga world- it will be a perfect beach book for winter sun holidays - short sentences, simple English 😀

There will be a curiosity factor that will make this book sell across the board-especially the female population - this is MAGA soft sell - and it’s likely designed to either reinforce beliefs using a different persona of Trumps wife, or to reach out and influence those undecided - ok yes, ideally they have to buy it to be influenced by it - but what about the soft day time interviews ? These will also help influence people

The market you described is typically female-centric in a campaign where one of the canditates could end up being the first woman to become President while advocating for reproductive rights, while the other canditate is an adjudicated rapist of at least one woman and has bragged about torpedoing the reproducive rights of millions of women in the US.

I'm not certain how a ghost-written fluff-piece by the estranged trophy wife that he imported (and cheats on) will sway all that many. Also, I don't easily imagine the Melania book to easily land onto whatever the current equivilent to Oprah's Bookclub is. It's clearly a product of MAGAworld, and I can easily imagine MAGA-esque marketing along the lines of Trump's NFTs, Gold Shoes and Trump Bibles. To go beyond the typical MAGA-friendly marketing channels might be beyond their means. It's not impossible of course, but I don't see it happening unless they're willing to put a lot of their warchest behind it…and you know…a lot of that money is ringfenced for Donnie himself.

He's been trashing every kind of conservative shibboleth for years and it never seems to dent his support on that side of the house.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,814 ✭✭✭Oscar_Madison

Some good points there- I’d doubt the watchers of Oprahs book club though are their ideal target audience - they’ll be mostly clear democrats I imagine - let’s see what happens- I’m sure the book will be ridiculed overall - but I do think it will sell- people love debate and discussion about books will generally read them and if you want to discuss the book you’ll have to read it first.

    Yeah.. I'd agree.

Hard to see this getting any air-tine of consequence on the mainstream day-time shows.

Will get a passing mention , but it isn't going to feature heavily , nor is Melania going to be sitting for interviews on the various morning shows promoting it. The risk of her getting asked "So , why did you stay with him when you found out about him sleeping with Porn-stars??" is just WAY to high.

Also , I can guarantee that there isn't a single mention of ANY of his alleged infidelities in this book .

Fox will talk about it , NewsMax will talk about it and the various MAGA Social media mouthpieces will declare it a "must read" but it won't make much of a ripple elsewhere.
